Dr. Savage is interested in advancing the state of the art in Orthopaedic care. As part of this commitment he actively participates in and offers his patients access to some of the newest investigational therapies. Dr. Savage has served as the Prinicipal Investigator on studies involving new medications in the area of arthritis pain and blood clot prevention following joint replacement surgery. He has worked with major pharmaceutical companies including: Bristol-Myers Squibb, Pfizer, and Astellas.
Current studies as of June 2010 include investigational medicine for osteoarthritis of the knee. Studies under evaluation include studies to replace damaged cartilage in the knee joint with tissue to promote healing. Dr. Savage works closely with Tekton Research company in clinical trials.
